24 th January 2016 Sunday Message preached from Chennai
By: Dr. Pas. C. Peter Chandran, Ph.D., THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD

1.Blessed is the man

Psalm 1 is the introduction to the entire book of Psalms. The godly people are characterized by righteousness, love and obedience to God’s word. A godly person loves God’s word and meditates in it day and night. His root system gets life from God he prospers in life.

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.(Psam1:1-3).

“Blessing”Knowing Jesus, seeing Jesus, perceiving Jesus makes you a blessed man or woman. When Jesus asked His disciples about who He is, one of His disciples, Simon Peter confessed: Jesus is the Christ ( Messiah= the anointed one),The Son Of God. Jesus pronounced a blessing upon him, saying: Peter, you are blessed. Revelation knowledge brings you into a blessed life. Jesus is building His church upon the Rock foundation. God is the Rock in O.T. In N.T. Jesus is the Rock and our Salvation.

Knowing Jesus, seeing Jesus, perceiving Jesus makes you a blessed man or woman.

“ But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name”(St. John 20:31).

Therefore when you believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and confess, then you are also a blessed man or woman. This blessing is having the life of God into your spirit, and you are born again child of God. You are given power(authority) to become the children of God.

2. Our Inheritance

The second revelation is from Psalm2:8

“Ask of Me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession”( Psalm 2:8).

This promise was made only to Jesus the Son of God. God says: I shall give you Jesus, the nations for your inheritance”. God the Father promises a harvest of souls from the nations to God the Son as His rightful inheritance and it will come to pass.

As children of God, we also ask God to give us wisdom, daily bread and most importantly the harvest of souls. It shall be given to us, because our Father God is generous, loving and good.” If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” (St.Luke 11:13).

Ou inheritance is souls, good gifts and the power of the Holy Spirit. Earthly father gives house, wealth and education, car, financial blessings. Above all, the LORD is our inheritance.

3. Great Salvation

The third revelation is from Psalm 3:

“Salvation belongeth unto the LORD; Thy blessing is upon thy people (Psalm 3:8).

Salvation means deliverance, forgiveness of sins, bodily healing, success in life, safety and protection, prosperity and blessing. The study of salvation in Bible is a great theological subject, and it is called Soteriology. Salvation belongs to the LORD. In the Old Testament, the LORD IS Jehovah the Great I AM. But in the N.T. God manifested in flesh in the form of His Son Jesus. He is the salvation and savior of the world. In the book of Jonah, it is prophetically revealed through a person’s humble prayer in the belly of the great fish:

“ They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanks giving: I will pay that I have vowed; salvation is of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah, upon the dry land”( Jonah 2:8-10).

Jonah was running away from the presence of the LORD. There was a great storm in the ocean. Jonah was cast into the sea. The Great fish swallowed him. But, to our surprise, he was praying to the good God in the belly of the fish. After his humble prayer, ha came to this conclusion:

  • They that observe lying vanities forsake God’s own mercy for them
  • Salvation is of the LORD.

It is interesting to study these declarations: If you are observing or seeing lying vanities( horoscope, soothsaying, female dressed in male dress and preaching, making robots using bulls or idol worship, wrong media and internet), you waste the grace of God upon your life. You need to repent( change your mine- donot see it) and say that salvation is of the LORD. Jesus is the LORD. When you confess this truth, He will speak to the fish and it will vomit you out of your comfort zone, out of your troubles and you will experience God’s great deliverance which is salvation, as Prophet Jonah.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and confession is made unto salvation”(Romans 10:9,10).

Jonah experienced death, burial and resurrection in the belly of the fish. When he confessed:”Salvation is of the LORD”, he experienced great deliverance. Similarly, you can also be born again by : (i) Believing God raised Jesus from the dead and (ii) confessing Jesus is the Lord. You are born again, saved, child of God. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

4. The Joy of Salvation

The fourth Revelation is from Psalm 4: “Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased”.( Psalm 4:7).

“Put” means to move somebody or something into particular place or position. For example “ Joy put the book on the table”. I was put incharge of the project. For example, the Bible says:

  • Put off … the old man which grows corrupt
  • You put on the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness ( Eph.4:22-24).

King David says: “ Thou hast put gladness in my heart”. More Joy leads to more happiness. Here he speaks about the Joy of salvation. This is joy unspeakable and full of glory. When money is put in your Bank Account every month by your company, few days you are happy. When money is spent, happiness is gone. But the gladness God puts in my heart ( inward part) and in your heart makes us joyful always. That is the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 4:4:

“ Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say rejoice”.

Because our names are written in the Book of life. Those who are born again, those who have received and experienced the great salvation. Because of that divine joy, we do the gospel work with enthusiasm. In the harvest time or when our corn and wine increase, we become happy. As a child of my farmer father, this happiness in the time of harvest and bringing the harvest into our house, I was happy. But the happiness, gladness, joy in my heart, into my life. I became a happiest person. That is why God’s word says: The joy of the LORD is my strength. Let us sing this following verses as a chorus:
Thou hast turned for me My mourning into dancing:
Thou hast put off my sackcloth, And girded me with gladness.
To the end that my glory may sinr praise to thee,
And not be silent, O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever. ( Psalm 30:11,12).

5. Blessed Favour of God

The fifth revelat6ion is from Psalm 5:12 “ For Thou, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield”.

When we humble ourselves in Prayer before God, we are justified and made righteous by believing on the Lord Jesus. The LORD blesses the righteous. And God’s favor is like a shield, which compasses us for protection, safety and Peace. The LORD loves the righteous persons. His favor is upon you. These are the five revelations from my reading of Psalm1,2,3,4, and 5.

God bless you. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be you forever. Amen.
