(By REV. C. PETER CHANDRAN , Sunday Moring Message,
( 21 st September 2014) at 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon).
Preached in The Blessing Faith Church, Chennai- 600 100.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (LUKE 18:1-8 ).

1. Introduction

Jesus taught the people using simple day today life stories to reveal heavenly truth, which is called a Parable. Jesus taught many parables to His people who listened to Him. The theme of this teaching is : “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” In tamil languages , this sentence is in three words. The words of Jesus are very important, which will change life. You should not faint with regard to Prayer. Even young men will faint and be tired. But when you pray, you shall have right mind and your body shall be renewed and restored. The Bible says in Isaiah 40: 29- 31:

He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary , And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint”. Are you weak? Are you tired? Are you without strength? When you wait on the LORD, You shall exchange the strength of God into your spirit and be strong in the body. Walking for one hour is a good exercise along the seashore everyday. You can live a disease free life. Prayer brings victory. Some ladies have the name “Jeba , or names starting with letter J, but they do not know how to pray. Prayer is an art which we should learn in the presence of God. Prayer is a wonderful spiritual exercise which will change your life. Jesus said: “ Men ought always to pray, and not to faint”. Prayer makes you a real man. Prayer solves life’s problems. Prayer helps you to make right decisions.

2. Widow’s Prayer of Petition

A judge was there in a City. He was an unbeliever and he had two bad characteristics: 1. He did not fear God and 2. He did not regard ( respect) man. The Judge was a proud fellow, not regarding poor widows and people. People in high ranking authority sometimes are proud because of Social status, education, lot of money and political influence. Specially, they do not regard a widow or a son of a widow, thinking she is a poor woman and her son is a poor intelligent believer.

There was a widow in that city. Perhaps she was a widow for many years. I personally know and understand the manifold sufferings of a widow and her fatherless children. She had a problem with his adversary. She wrote a Prayer of Petition, asking help from that rich Judge, saying: “ Avenge me of mine adversary.” We donot know about her adversary and what type of problem she had. The Bible says, as believers in Christ Jesus, we all have an adversary, whose name is Devil, or Satan or Thief. I Peter 5:8, 9 says:

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because[a] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

Our enemy is the devil. And he is like a roaring lion and is seeking believers to devour them. The Bible says that God will fight for widows which are believing. Some of the devils servants, after getting money from the god of this age, cheating , stealing and devouring widows. God will fight with you, and you will be defeated .Be careful to do justice and help the poor and widows. God forgives you and God bless you.

3. The Mind of the Unjust Judge changed

The judge delayed to help her, he was not willing. Perhaps, they are delaying to give you degree, they are delaying to help you, or delaying to solve your problem, not loving you. But, the good news is The Unjust Judge changed his mind because of her continual coming and troubling him to grant help and do justice. The unjust judge said:” I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.” The Lord Jesus here tells us to meditate or think about these words. Things which are impossible with men are possible with God. With God all things are possible. God will change their minds and their words. God is willing that all should know the truth and come to the knowledge of Salvation.

4. Red Letters win

Much more, we should think about the words of God. Think about the words of Jesus!.His words are spirit and life. Jesus said: “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them”. He says, God shall avenge His own elect. We are His own elect. He has chosen us, we have not chosen Him. Jesus has chosen us as His beloved disciples that we may bear much fruit for the glory of God. My dear brothers, sisters and believers! God will do justice for you. God will give us victory to who love sincerely. I believe the words Jesus. My dear preacher friend, believe the words of Jesus, speak the words of Jesus, do not just preach old testament stories. Jesus’ truth will set you free. Jesus words are words of Eternal life. Jesus will reward us;

5. Jesus is our Righteous Judge

Let us study what the Apostle Paul said: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”What a wonderful statement of finishing grace. Jesus is the righteous judge, He will give me the crown of righteousness on that day. He is a faithful Judge. He promises you blessings, victory, salvation, Eternal life, Prosperity.

I am really thrilled to know that Jesus is the Righteous Judge. This is a spiritual warfare. In this warfare, we win through prayer and He gives us victory. Definably, the enemy is defeated. As One American Preacher always says: You are not a victim, but, you are a victor. Amen, I believe that statement of faith. The Bible testifies to that fact: 1 Corinthians 15:57 says: “ But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

6. Prayer of Faith

Jesus said to us that we should have faith when we pray. In the last days many will loose their faith. The son man Jesus wants to see faith when he comes on the earth. True, He is the Son of God. He wants to give His faith into us: Mark 11:24 assures us the answers to our prayer: “ Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received[a] it, and it will be yours.” Jesus gives us assurance that God will avenge them speedily those who cry out to Him day and night. Note the word speedily: Revelation 22:20 and 2 Corinthians 4:17 tells us that Jesus is coming quickly. Jesus will take away all our sufferings from us and bless us with His Prosperity. 17” For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” ( Revelation 22:20).

7. Conclusion

Prayer BRINGS VICTORY. Let us cry out to God our Father for justice and help and prosperity. Jesus is our Righteous Judge. He will change worldly rulers hearts and minds and accomplish His great plans and purposes. Let us believe the words of Jesus. He is faithful and true high Priest who is interceding for us in the presence of God. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless you.
