Dearly Beloved Ministry Partners, Brothers and Sisters in the LORD,

Praise the LORD. This month key word is HOPE. Hope meaning a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen. It is a feeling of trust. We want something to happen. Someone is hoping for an offer of compensation.

INTRODUCTION:

There is a hereafter! In the Book of Proverbs, we read a word of hope: “ For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off”( Proverbs 23:18). Three points to be noted: 1. Surely,2. There is a future, 3. Your hope matters.

There is an end for –ve things in your life. And there is a beginning for +ve things to happen in your life. Poverty, lack, wants, failure, disease, debts, loneliness, sleeplessness are negative things in your life. Prosperity, abundance, success, giving to others, family, peace of mind are +ve things in your life.

“ Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God” ( William Carey).

God is able to do great things. Get the order right. Find wisdom, there is a prospect. Your hope will not be cut off. Honey is sweet to your taste. Similarly, wisdom is sweet to your soul.

1. ABRAHAM’S HOPE:

Surely, there is a reward for the righteous. Righteousness means right standing with God. Doing right things for righteous cause. God made a promise to Abraham: “ Surely, blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you”. Abraham believed God. And it was counted to him as righteousness. The situation was contrary to hope. But in hope, he believed God. Almighty blessed him and multiplied him as the stars of heaven.

2. THE LORD GIVES A FUTURE AND A HOPE:

“ For I know the thoughts that I have toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”( Jeremiah 29:11). There are two kinds of thoughts: (i) thoughts of peace, (ii) thoughts of evil. Both thoughts are very powerful. One leads you to attain good future. Another leads you to bad future. Proverbs 23:7a says: “ For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”. Man can think good thoughts. Bad man thinks bad thoughts.

The LORD’s thoughts are peaceful thoughts toward you. The LORD is good. One good thought of the LORD will give you a good future. These are thoughts of peace. He will not hurt you. He will not spoil your future and life. These are works of the demons. Stealing, killing and destroying are the works of the devil. The LORD gives you abundant life.

Jesus is the LORD in the New Testament. Jesus says: “ The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” ( St. John 10:10). Jesus gives you zoe life in your spirit. So that, you are born again. You became a child of God. As a child of God, you are having an abundant life and good future. Expect it.

3. A LIVING HOPE:

Apostle Peter is the Apostle of Hope. He writes words of hope to the suffering believers for the Gospel and LORD’s sake. Let us read 1. Peter 1:3-5: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time’. These are the wonderful words of a former fisherman turned the beloved Disciple and Apostle of Our Lord Jesus. I am really amazed at his words of wisdom displayed in these words. How Jesus changed his life for the better!

Peter says, God has begotten us according to His abundant mercy to a living hope. We are sons of God. You are daughters of God. We are born again children of God. We have a living hope through Jesus’ resurrection. We have zoe life in us. Therefore, every born again child of God has an inheritance. This inheritance is: (i) incorruptible, (ii) undefiled, and (iii) that does not fade away. This inheritance is for us reserved. According to the birthright of spiritual birth, this inheritance belongs to every child of God. It is not for the children of the devil. They do not believe Jesus resurrection.

But, we are kept by the power of God. There is a present salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, and there is a future salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. We are waiting for that future salvation. Therefore, let us purify ourselves, as He is pure. This is our living hope.

Let me summarise, what we have learnt: There is a hereafter for you. Hope is positive expectation. Expect great things from God. Abraham’s hope is blessing and becoming a blessing to the Nations. The LORD gives you a hope and a future. He thinks thoughts of peace about you. You will flourish in your life. Jesus gives you abundant life. We are born again children of God. We are having a living hope and an inheritance. Thank you Lord Jesus. Praise the LORD. Let us Hope in the LORD.
